Republic Of Dalmatia
Second Fleet

Second Fleet is a powerful  force consisting of warships, aircraft, submarines, and shore facilities. The headquarters for Second Fleet is located at Naval Station San Andreas, but it also maintains  a port management team that is located at the port in Duba, Saudi Arabia

Second Fleet’s geographic area of responsibility is the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. This region sees significant tension and conflict, so Second Fleet facilities include a large naval base in the Kingdom of Mahishmati, at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal, which is home to an ROD carrier battle group.

Second Fleet consists of the following units:

Carrier Battle Group 6

Carrier Battle Group 11

Carrier Battle Group 12

2nd SHAM

Destroyer Squadron 2

Submarine Squadron 12

Submarine Squadron 14

Second Fleet Headquarters

The Second Fleet Headquarters is where the fleet’s magic happens. The main headquarters for Second Fleet is located at Naval Station San Andreas where the bulk of the fleet is home ported. It includes 350 officers and NCOs organized into functional departments to include the command group, plans, operations, liaison, supply, and others. The fleet's home is Naval Station San Andreas, but a small forward headquarters is located at Naval Station Mahishmati that can be expanded to house the full headquarters when necessary. Additionally, the fleet command ship RODS Achilles (Blue Ridge Class) is under the command of Second Fleet, and is permanently based in the Mediterranean. This provides a third platform for command of Second Fleet.

CVBG-6 is built around the Kitty Hawk class aircraft carrier Tempest. It is the only forward deployed battle group, so unlike other carrier battle groups, CVBG-6 contains a pair of destroyers and an attack submarine in addition to a cruiser and a fast support ship. Carrier Air Wing 2 is assigned to the Tempest. CVBG-6 and CAW-2 combined have one of the most impressive naval combat records in ROD history.

Carrier Battle Group 6

Carrier Air Wing 2 provides the offensive firepower for CVBG-6. Embarked aboard the Tempest, CAW-2 contains 4 fighter and attack squadrons, an anti-submarine squadron, a helicopter squadron, an airborne early warning detachment, and an electronic warfare detachment. At full strength the air wing contains 72 fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

Carrier Battle Group 11

CVBG-11 is built around the JFK class aircraft carrier Valkyrie. In addition to the aircraft carrier itself, the battle group also includes the cruiser Shepherd, the fast support ship Cougar, and Carrier Air Wing 3. When deployed, additional escorting ships, aircraft, and submarines may be attached from First Fleet.

Carrier Air Wing 3 provides the real hitting power for CVBG-11. Embarked aboard the Valkyrie, CAW-3 contains 4 fighter and attack squadrons, an anti-submarine squadron, a helicopter squadron, an airborne early warning detachment, and an electronic warfare detachment. At full strength the air wing contains 72 fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

Carrier Battle Group 12

CVBG-12 is centered on the JFK class aircraft carrier Phoenix. In addition to the aircraft carrier, the battle group includes the cruiser Rottweiler, the fast support ship Bison, and Carrier Air Wing 5. When deployed, additional escorting ships, aircraft, and submarines may be attached from First Fleet.

Carrier Air Wing 5 provides an incredible mix of flexibility and lethality, CAW-8 contains 4 fighter and attack squadrons, an anti-submarine squadron, a helicopter squadron, an airborne early warning detachment, and an electronic warfare detachment. At full strength the air wing contains 72 fixed and rotary wing aircraft. VFA-6 has, for the past decade, been the most decorated fighter squadron in the ROD, with an unsurpassed kill ratio over the span of several conflicts.

2nd SHAM

2nd SHAM is a military unit whose purpose is to not fight. SHAM stands for Security and Humanitarian Assistance Mission, and this is the reason for its existence. 2nd SHAM deploys in 2 vessels, and it can land a battalion sized assistance unit with landing craft or helicopters. The ships are manned by Navy personnel, but the landing parties are made up of personnel from the Army, Navy, and Marines.

The ships of 2nd SHAM are the modified Whidbey Island class hospital ship RODS Heracles (LSD/H-27) and the Wasp class landing helicopter dock RODS Poseidon (LHD-25). The modified Whidbey Island class hospital ship retains its well deck and landing pad, but much of its internal space has been reconfigured to accommodate medical facilities like surgical suites, patient wards, laboratories, etc.

2nd SHAM also contains three company sized units: a security company of military police trained soldiers, a construction engineering company, and a field medical company.

2 helicopter squadrons are carried on the Poseidon.

Destroyer Squadron 2

DESRON 2 is a flexible surface warfare unit consisting of Arleigh Burke and Spruance class destroyers. Their primary mission is to provide escort ships to carrier battle groups, but due to the capabilities of the destroyers, these ships may also be tasked to perform a multitude of special missions.

Submarine Squadron 12

Submarine Squadron 14

Second Fleet Resources

SUBRON 12 is Second Fleet's attack submarine force. Typically, these attack boats will be attached to surface ship formations, but they can also deploy individually or in groups. Submarine deployments are a closely guarded secret, though you can count on a submarine being attached to most naval formations.

SUBRON 14 is First Fleet's guided missile submarine force. Unlike their attack boat brethren, the boats of SUBRON 14 operate independently, providing the ROD with lethal options to crises across the globe. All of the ROD's SSGNs are Ohio class guided missile submarines, each carrying up to 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Second Fleet, in addition to squadrons of ships and carrier battle groups, has a number of ships and aircraft that are essentially independent resources. The fleet commander may deploy those resources as he sees fit, either reinforcing other formations, or deploying them by themselves.
