ROD Army Structure

It takes more than combat troops to run an army. There is an enormous support structure of Army troops and civilian employees that keep the Army in top shape and ready for combat. These are the major commands that make up the total force.

Department of the Army Headquarters

This headquarters provides command and control for the Army as a whole. Decisions concerning force structures, deployment orders, and development of doctrine are made in this headquarters. The Department of the Army answers to ROD Joint Forces Command.

Joint Forces Staff

All military organizations in the ROD report to Joint Forces Command. Officers and NCOs from all of the various services, including the Army, are assigned to the Joint Forces Staff.

Training Command

Soldiers of all ranks need training. Training command is a large entity which is responsible for running the Army's professional schools. These schools include everything from basic training for new recruits to professional officer training to the War College. Training Command also runs the Combat Maneuver Training Centers at Armadillo Barracks and in Mahishmati.

Forces Command

The Army's combat units are all administratively grouped into Forces Command. The Army's divisions and brigades report to Forces Command for training and combat readiness, but can be assigned to a Joint Task Force for specific operations.

Army Medical Command

Combat support medical units are assigned to Army field units (typically at the Corps level), but Army Medical Command is a separate organization that provides medical, dental, and veterinary care to soldiers and their families. They staff medical clinics at every base worldwide, and they also staff the massive military medical center in Erinsburg.

Facilities Command

The Army requires a lot of real estate in the form of bases, training areas, and housing areas. Facilities Command is there to maintain those bases and housing areas, and ensure that the troops can focus on war fighting and not have to worry about quality of life issues. Facilities Command also runs the military school system which dependent children attend. If this command is not capable of maintaining some aspect of life support, they contract out to a civilian firm that can.

Human Resources Command

This organization is tasked with providing human resources support to the troops. This includes maintenance of personnel records, processing of personnel orders, and soldier financial issues.

Army Judicial Command

While Forces Command controls the deployable Military Police battalions, general law and order is maintained on Army posts by Military Police of the Army Judicial Command. This headquarters also runs the Army court system and maintains several military prisons.

Recruiting Command

The officers and NCOs of Recruiting Command are responsible for recruiting new soldiers for the Army. It is staffed primarily by personnel from Forces Command, so it can either be a nice break from training and deployment, or it can be sentence to office boredom, depending on one's point of view.

Procurement Command

This organization is responsible for R&D of new Army weapon systems, and also for acquiring new systems from external sources. If a new system is being manufactured specifically for the Army, then Procurement Command works closely with defense contractors to ensure that equipment meets the specifications.
